Doors

Similar to windows, doors can be a common cause of energy loss. Doors made of thin material, or with cracks in them, may need replacing in order to prevent a home from losing energy and heat.
Also consider whether a door has glass or not - glass isn’t the best insulator, particularly if it isn’t double glazed, so suggest a door with minimal (or no) glass as a feature. However, if doors are in fairly good condition then a simple draught excluder may just do the trick.

Loft

Simple Energy Advice says up to 25% of your home's heating energy is lost in the roof. Homeowners can stop rising heat from escaping through the loft by laying down blanket loft insulation rolls that can be altered to fit between the joists.
A well-insulated home is important as it means fewer draughts and lower bills during the winter months. Loft insulation maintains the heat inside the home and can last for decades. According to Which?, it could reduce energy bills by £590 for a detached house, £355 for a semi-detached and £330 for a mid-terrace.

The Government has been helping the least energy efficient households become more energy efficient by funding home improvement measures, such as insulation and boiler upgrades. There are two schemes – the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, designed for those on a low income, and the Great British Insulation Scheme, which is open to a further 400,000 households.
