What is a tethered EV charger?
A tethered EV charger is fixed on or near to your property. It may have a built-in charging cable (tethered) or one that plugs in and out for security purposes. This is the most convenient and easy-to-use option for home charging, allowing for a much faster charge. A charging cable that plugs into a standard mains socket will be around 2.5k-3.0kW, but installed chargers are 7kW, making them 2-3 times as fast.
