What tools do I need to lay laminate flooring?
When installing laminate flooring, you’ll need a saw to cut the flooring and a hammer or mallet to securely lock the planks together. You’ll need floor spacers, a pull bar and a tapping block to achieve the perfect professional finish; these tools are often sold as part of a flooring fitting kit.
You should also make sure you have the tools to safely lay your laminate flooring including safety goggles and work gloves.
How do you use a carpet cutting tool?
To use a carpet cutting tool such as a carpet trimmer, firstly ensure your carpet is fully stretched using a carpet gripper and is lying flat. Once the carpet is secure and ready to be cut, set the blade to match the thickness of your flooring and place the base of the trimmer flat on the carpet with the guide flat against the wall.
To cut the carpet, run the trimmer carefully along the wall whilst gently pulling the carpet tight to ensure a clean, smooth finish. You can use a carpet cutting knife to tidy up the edges before tucking the edge of the carpet between the baseboard and the tack strip.
