We are proud to have teamed up with presenter, singer, actress and DIY fan Kimberley Walsh. Since childhood Kimberley has always had a passion for DIY, helping her mum decorate their house. Kimberley has completed a number of projects with us in her own home and has also helped some of our customers to achieve dream spaces of their own. We have also partnered with her on two signature paint colours, so if you like Kimberley's style, you can have it in your own home.

Kimberley's inspirational and helpful content and DIY tips and tricks will help you complete your next project with ease.

Introducing Kimberley Walsh's new paint, Subtle Sage

Subtle Sage is a tranquil hue, drawing on inspiration from the soothing tones found in nature's greenery. Intended to be a versatile colour, Subtle Sage perfectly blends and complements other natural neutral earthy tones to create tonal harmony. It is also able to stand up to more striking bolder colours for contrast and to make a statement.

Kimberley's first paint colour, Blue Haze, pairs perfectly with this beautiful green.

We have worked with Kimberley to select a complementary colour palette for Subtle Sage, to help you style the colour in your own space.

Kimberley's top tips for painting

A good brush is the key to a perfect finish! Sets of brushes can be great value, but for that pristine finish, investing in one or two top-quality brushes will make all the difference. When cutting in, a small angled brush is best to keep lines neat.

Painting can be a very messy job. I like to keep my paint pots mess-free by using an elastic band to brush off excess paint. This also keeps lids from sticking between uses. Tie your elastic to either side of the paint tin handle, pushing the handle down to the side, making the elastic taut and ready for wiping!

I’ve recently seen so many bold painting trends, and painted ceilings is one of my favourites! Painting them in a colour that isn’t white can be really impactful and will also help to accentuate room features such as dado rails and cornicing. Be mindful when picking a colour because darker shades can make ceilings seem lower, and rooms smaller.

50 years of DIY at Wickes

It's been 50 years since Wickes opened its doors and a lot has changed since then - like the role of women in DIY! To mark this shift Kimberley Walsh recently joined us to recreate images from 1972 issues of 'Do it Yourself' magazine and give them a modern twist! We're thrilled to be working with Kimberley and encouraging more women to have the confidence to embrace DIY.
