Natural

The on trend colour palette focuses on warm earth tones - think rich browns, deep oranges, and soft yellows - and fresh, natural greens are also having a major moment. These colours create a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Then, incorporate natural elements like wood, stone, bamboo, cork, and greenery. These elements bring a touch of nature indoors, enhancing a warm, rustic feel. Another way of bringing nature into the home is to add enormous glass doors that blend the outdoor space with the indoor. Pinterest Trends found that search terms such as ‘earthy bathroom’ have shown an increase of 459% in the past year.

Vintage

Forbes found that vintage-inspired decor continues to be popular, with a focus on pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia and charm. Vintage-inspired accents from many different decades are coming together to create a new style. Everything from colours and metal finishes always find their way back but with a new fresh twist. Homeowners are now looking for unique features that fit their personality and personal taste, which can be achieved by using vintage materials, patterns and colours from the past.
Fluting is having a big moment as it is a great way to incorporate texture through different surfacing materials to achieve a timeless look and add depth and dimension, for example, fluted walls and tiles, and this stunning fluted sink.

Lighting

Lighting plays a crucial role in setting a mood, which is particularly noticeable as the nights draw in. Accessorise with built in lighting, as with this Sofia Reed Green kitchen. These pieces add a soft, ambient glow to a home, enhancing a cosy atmosphere.

Stripes

Vogue has said that stripes in an over-the-top way are becoming popular. A full-dip striped room, or a striped, tiled shower. It feels traditional yet modern and very fresh.

Tile trends

Finding the right colours and patterns for a home can spark real joy. The trend is for tiles with more irregular, textured surfaces, rather than those that are smooth and sleek. 2024 is all about tiles and finishes that have a ton of character. Terrazzo, concrete, and Moroccan are popular.

Tile layout

Think also about the layout of the tiles.  Make old classics more current, by stacking tiles either vertically or horizontally, or using bold colours in a checkerboard.  Or use tiles to frame a feature, as with the Carnaby tiles in this Intelliga Sandford Cloudy Blue kitchen, used to frame the island.

Outdoor tiles

Large tiles can be used for effortless transitions from indoor areas to outdoor patios, making the home and garden feel like a cohesive space. Install the same or similar floor tiles for a seamless walkway that bridges the gap between designs.  Be sure to select tiles that are suitable for outdoor use though.
