Can you drill into tiles?

Yes, however, drilling into porcelain tile is much more difficult than ceramic and it requires extra care and the use of specific tools to avoid cracking your tiles. It’s important to use a drill with adjustable speed and a diamond-tipped or carbide-tipped drill bit suitable for the type of tile you’re working with. We recommend using masking tape or a nail punch to create a small indentation on the tile before drilling to prevent the drill bit from slipping.

What are the different types of tiles available?

What’s the best type of tile for my project

For high-traffic areas, porcelain or ceramic tiles are excellent floor tile choices due to their durability. For walls, ceramic, porcelain, glass and natural stone tiles can all be suitable for wall applications, depending on the desired look. And for splashbacks and upstands,quartz, porcelain, granite and natural stone tiles are great for splashbacks and upstands as they’re durable and resistant to stains, heat and scratches.

It’s important to select a slip-resistant tile for areas prone to moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens; look out for an R rating of R11 or PTV rating of 36+ if you’re tiling a wetroom. For any tile, you should also search for a PEI rating for indication on wear and tear.
